HONOLULU — Many have seen green flashes at sunset. But residents across Hawaii — some still drying out after a month of wet weather — were treated to something much different on Sunday.

As Accuweather's Emilee Speck explains in the video, the green glow you see in the sky is an "airglow," which occurs when particles charged by the sun release energy into the night sky.

And, just as with the green flashes at sunset, if you've got the right camera, you can capture it in real time.

My apologies, though, to those who thought they had finally captured a UFO on camera. You'll get your chance eventually.
