MURRAY — Deputies identified two people who were killed after they parked their car on the shoulder of I-215 near 900 West Saturday morning and got out of their car, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

UHP says a dark SUV pulled to the shoulder of the road just before 4 a.m. and a woman got out of the car. She walked into the right travel lane and was struck by a silver Kia Spectra.

The driver of the SUV got out of the car and tried to get to the woman, but he was then hit by a Volkswagen Tiguan, UHP says.

"The female was pronounced dead on scene and the male was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later," according to the release.

The deceased were identified as Julianna R. Castro, 22, and Victor H. De La Rosa, 23, both from Ogden.
