OGDEN — A man allegedly found with 7,000 fentanyl pills in his Roy home has been charged with drug trafficking.
Juan Jorge Uranga, 37, was charged Thursday in 2nd District Court with trafficking of fentanyl, a first-degree felony; possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and endangerment of a child, third-degree felonies.
Investigators serving a search warrant at his home at 3860 Midland Drive reported seizing 7,000 fentanyl pills. "Juan admitted to possessing the pills with the intent to distribute them," according to charging documents.
Police located a large knife at his home where he lives with his 17-year-old son and Uranga "admitted that he knowingly put his child at risk using fentanyl in the house where his son could access the drugs, paraphernalia and be subject to the smoke given off when Juan consumes the fentanyl," the charges state.
Uranga told investigators of another large quantity of pills an acquaintance was holding for him. The court documents don't specify if they were also fentanyl pills, but the acquaintance was located, along with 32,000 more pills, which Uranga allegedly said were his.
Investigators with the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force conducted the warrant leading to Uranga's arrest based on probable cause that the man was selling drugs from his Roy home. Uranga is being held without bail.
