BLATTEN, Switzerland — Last week, Birch Glacier above the Swiss village of Blatten broke off, causing a landslide that destroyed the village.
A video from Reuters showed the massive amounts of rock, dirt, ice and mud that flowed down the mountain burying a majority of the area.
Luckily, Swiss glaciologists had expressed concerns about a thaw in recent years with the glaciers in the country, and authorities evacuated the 300 people and all livestock in Blatten just days before the disaster.
Although the village being destroyed is a tragedy, one positive that came out of the event is a fantastic video of the Swiss cows being evacuated via helicopter. A herd of 52 cows was evacuated before the landslide, according to BBC News.
This video shows the cows being picked up and flown through the air to a safe place before being reunited with their owners. Secured in a sling, the cows look relatively calm in what I am sure was an exhilarating experience.

If I was a cow, I would definitely be excited for a free helicopter ride with panoramic views of the beautiful Swiss Alps.
