ON THE PODIUM โ€” Andy Reid may be the most famous member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the current moment, as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs on the precipice of potential NFL history: a third-straight Super Bowl championship, if the Chiefs can get by the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday's Big Game.

He's also, apparently, a missionary for his faith.

Every member, right?

The Chiefs head coach gave a simple nod to his Latter-day Saint faith when a reporter asked him about his favorite book trilogy on Super Bowl Opening Night inside the Superdome in New Orleans.

"How about the Bible?" Reid pithily glibbed, before noting the Old Testament and New Testament only make up two titles in Christianity's top tome. "The Book of Mormon. Pearl of Great Price. I like 'em all."

Reid, the three-time NFL champion who has been a head coach of both franchises that will face off in Super Bowl 59 for the past 26 years, hasn't been shy about speaking about his faith. A convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Reid and his wife Tammy often attend church meetings before Chiefs games each Sunday โ€” both at home and on the road โ€” or they will hold their own sacrament meeting with the permission of the local church bishop.

But a constant for the former BYU offensive lineman and graduate assistant under Hall of Fame coach LaVell Edwards has been the scriptures.

"When you read the Book of Mormon or the scriptures, period, people have had ups and downs, and people in leadership positions have had ups and downs," Reid told the church's "All In" podcast last year. "That's part of life. I think we all have issues. Somewhere along the line, you're gonna have issues. Some are greater than others, but you're gonna have these hurdles that you've got to come over. So we bank on our faith to get us through that."
