SALT LAKE CITY — Benson Boone fans in Utah, rejoice: The singer will be performing in the Beehive State this year after all.
Benson Boone to headline new Utah music festival
When the pop singer announced his "Wanted Man" tour a few months ago, some fans were surprised to see Salt Lake City — the only place on his previous tour where he performed three shows — excluded from the list.
Turns out Boone fans in Utah won't actually have to travel too far to see him in concert.
The "Beautiful Things" singer will headline a new music festival at the Utah State Fairpark this fall.
Boone is scheduled to perform on Friday, Oct. 2, at the inaugural Yours Always Music Festival. Other performers Friday night include "Until I Found You" singer Stephen Sanchez and Joshua Bassett, who rose to fame for his role as Ricky Bowen in the Disney+ series "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series."
Saturday night's slate includes Sombr and Labrinth.
Boone's performance at the festival comes a year after he played three sold-out shows at the Delta Center.
"This is the only city we're playing multiple nights in a row," Boone told his cheering Salt Lake City crowd with a sense of awe and gratitude on the first night. "We're playing three — you guys sold out three! Come on, that's ridiculous! I love you guys, thank you so much."
Tickets for the Yours Always Music Festival go on sale starting Friday at 10 a.m. MDT.
Benson Boone releases new song, 'The Time of My Life'
Shortly after announcing his appearance at the new music festival in Utah, Boone has released his first new song since last year's "American Heart" album.
The singer displays his high-soaring vocals in "The Time of My Life," an emotional song that laments the absence of a former lover in his life.
Boone stars alongside influencer Alix Earle in a music video for the song, which came out on Thursday. The video, directed by Matt Eastin (the director behind Boone's Mr. Electric Blue music video), shows Boone and Earle preparing to take the stage for a play.
"Will she be here?" Earle asks Boone a few minutes before showtime.
The video then shifts to the audience, where there's an empty reserved chair marked with a heart.
Onstage, in the play, Earle and Boone fall in love as their adventures unfold — everything from going on a boat ride to fighting off a dragon. But throughout it all, Boone looks at the empty chair and thinks of his former love.
Near the end of the play, Boone ditches Earle during a wedding scene and chases the memories of his ex. The music video concludes with Boone back on stage, sharing a kiss with Earle as the audience applauds.
Boone kicks off his "Wanted Man" North American tour on July 7 and will perform through early September.
