VIETNAM – What's the most amazing rainbow that you've ever seen? Maybe it was a particularly vibrant primary rainbow, which is the most common type. We often see these rainbows following afternoon storms or in the "Care Bears" logo.

But there are several other kinds of rainbows out there. Here's a quick list:

  • Double rainbows
  • Circular rainbows
  • Supernumerary rainbows
  • Monochrome rainbows
  • Moonbows
  • Fogbows

My family saw an epic double rainbow last week. Both of the rainbows featured stunning colors and seemed to fill the horizon. My son said it was one of the most beautiful things he's ever seen.

The closest I've come to a circular rainbow is this video. Check it out:

I've heard that these circular rainbows are most often seen from airplanes, thanks to the elevated perspective. It seems that a "sun halo" like this is rarer. And it's definitely a stunning sight.
