VERNAL — Crews are battling a wildfire in Uintah County that has scorched between an estimated 30 and 50 acres, according to Utah Fire Info.

The Dry Fork Fire sparked about 13 miles northwest of Vernal on Bureau of Land Management land Tuesday, but is not threatening any structures.

"Progression slowed overnight as the fire moved into natural holding features within the canyon," Utah Fire Info said in its update on Wednesday. Photos show a large cloud of smoke that can be seen for miles across Ashley Valley.

Additional ground and aerial resources were being deployed as firefighting efforts continued.
