SALT LAKE CITY — It's time to ring in the new year, and there's a wide variety of ways to celebrate in Utah — from fireworks to laser shows to bull riding. Here are some of the events across the state where you can welcome in 2026.

Last Hurrah 2025

Where: The Gateway in Salt Lake City

What time: 8 p.m.-midnight

How much: Free

What's happening: The Gateway is promoting Last Hurrah as Utah's "biggest, free New Year's Eve celebration." Not only will shops and restaurants stay open late, but the event will feature live outdoor DJ performances, street performers, a family-friendly Game Room and a fireworks show at midnight.

Big Boom Bash

Where: Millcreek Common in Millcreek

What time: 4 p.m.-8 p.m. and 9 p.m.-12:30 a.m.

How much: $5 from 4-8 p.m., $25 from 9 p.m.-12:30 a.m.

What's happening: An Early Eve celebration, beginning at 4 p.m., will include arcade games, carnival rides, a DJ, ice skating (not included in ticket price) and fireworks at 8 p.m. An Out Late celebration, beginning at 9 p.m, will also feature live music and aerialist performances, fortune tellers, poets writing personalized pieces, and fireworks.

After Noon Year's Eve

Where: Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City

What time: Noon-4 p.m.

How much: Free

What's happening: Clark Planetarium is celebrating New Year's Eve with a ball drop engineering challenge, live science presentations, and "galactic beats" from a DJ.

Laser Maestro's Cosmic Countdown

Where: Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City

What time: Shows begin every hour from 6-10 p.m.

How much: $10.85 for general admission, $8.68 for child admission

What's happening: The planetarium is hosting a laser show set to music from U2, Prince, Kate Bush, Depeche Mode and more, inside the Hansen Dome Theatre.

Noon Year's Eve

Where: Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper

What time: Confetti countdowns at noon and 3 p.m.

How much: Included with the price of admission, or free for members

What's happening: The aquarium's New Year's celebration will take place in the lobby with two differently timed confetti countdowns.

SLC NYE

Where: The Complex in Salt Lake City

What time: 7 p.m. on Dec. 30 and 31

How much: $130.60 for one day or $244.60 for both days

What's happening: The Complex is celebrating with two days of electronic music performances, featuring Slander, Sarah Landry and more.

Bull Wars

Where: Golden Spike Event Center in Ogden

What time: 7:30-10 p.m.

How much: $15-$35

What's happening: Ring in the new year by watching some bull riding in an indoor arena.

Luminaria

Where: Thanksgiving Point's Ashton Gardens in Lehi

What time: Entry begins at 4 p.m.; fireworks at 7:30 p.m.

How much: $20-$27

What's happening: Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point will include holiday lights, a fireworks show and a Fire and Ice show.

Ski resorts

Many ski resorts across Utah are hosting New Year's Eve events, including torchlight parades and fireworks displays. Here are some of the resorts holding events this year:

  • Alta
  • Brian Head
  • Park City Mountain
  • Powder Mountain
  • Snowbird
  • Solitude
  • Sundance

Libraries

Many local libraries are hosting New Year's Eve (or Noon Year's Eve) events for families, including the Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Davis County and Weber County library systems. Check with your local library to see if it has an event planned.

The Salt Lake County library system is also holding a New Year's Gala from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Viridian Event Center in West Jordan.
