SOUTH SALT LAKE — A Salt Lake man was arrested Monday after police say he pointed a gun at another driver during a road rage confrontation.
About 4:40 p.m. Monday, a man reported that a car "was driving close to him and eventually came up beside his personal vehicle in an aggressive manner," according to a police booking affidavit.
The driver of the vehicle that pulled up next to the first car also displayed a handgun, the affidavit states. The victim continued to drive and the second driver, Giovanni Gilbert Martinez, 19, drove the same way, according to police.
"As they continued driving, Giovanni displayed the handgun, again. This time Giovanni positioned the handgun out of the vehicle and pointed it at the (other driver)," the affidavit alleges.
No shots were fired. When officers found Martinez, they stopped him and discovered a handgun in the trunk of his car that was stolen, police said. He was arrested for investigation of aggravated assault with a road rage penalty enhancement, threatening to use a weapon in a fight with a road rage penalty enhancement and theft.
