Officers responded just after 12 p.m. to a call of a vehicle on fire on East Center Street near the mouth of Cedar Canyon and discovered a car "engulfed with flames," according to a post from Cedar City police.

"The accident involved a single car and the single occupant of that vehicle is deceased," the post says. The police, fire department, Utah Highway Patrol, Gold Cross and Iron County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene for assistance.

No identifying information has been released about the victim, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
