ST. GEORGE — Two men arrested in September have been indicted on federal charges after police say they discovered a forgery operation in a St. George motel room.

On Tuesday, Jonathan Arreola and Kyle Thomas Welsh, both 20 and from San Bernardino, California, were indicted on one count of bank fraud-conspiracy, according to the indictment recently filed in federal court.

The pair, federal prosecutors allege, ran a monthlong scheme starting as early as Aug. 14 to defraud at least two credit unions in Utah out of more than $150,000.

The federal case was filed following a report on the afternoon of Sept. 20 that a large amount of marijuana was found in one of the motel's unoccupied rooms.
