CLEARFIELD — A man who was changing a tire on the side of the freeway was hit and killed Wednesday night.
A 35-year-old man was driving a pickup truck when it broke down while in the southbound HOV lane on I-15 near the Antelope Drive exit about 7:30 p.m. He got out of his truck and was in the narrow shoulder area where it was dark, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Drivers did not see him until it was too late and swerved to get out of the way, but one car hit the man in the shoulder of the freeway, said UHP Sgt. Rick Shrader.
The man died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
