DELLE, Tooele County — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Washington man suspected of killing a semitruck driver who was found inside his rig on a Tooele County on-ramp.

Jaswinder Singh Dhillon, 46, of Ridgefield, Washington, was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with aggravated murder and aggravated kidnapping, first-degree felonies.

On the morning of Sept. 26, Jaspinder Singh, age unknown, of California, was found deceased inside the sleeper area in the cab of his semi that was stopped on the on-ramp to I-80 near Delle.

"The male appeared to have lacerations to the area around his neck and lower extremities. A large amount of red-brown staining consistent in appearance with blood was noted on the bed, pillow, and area near the deceased individual. The deceased male was lying on his stomach," according to charging documents.

Agents from the Utah State Bureau of Investigation began collecting evidence, including surveillance video from a gas station in Delle, dashcam video from one of Singh's co-workers, and data from a license-plate reader from the port of entry near Wendover, the charges state.

Investigators learned that a white Mercedes appeared to have been following Singh's semi for a considerable distance.

"This info indicates the Mercedes remained behind or near the semi for a distance of over 60 miles in Utah alone," according to the charges.

Agents also collected evidence in Reno and Winnemucca, Nevada, that showed the Mercedes and the semi traveling close together and stopping at the same gas station about the same time, the charges state.

After Singh was killed, the driver of the Mercedes bought gas in Wells, Nevada, and his car was again recorded driving through Reno a few hours later, according to the charging documents.

Using surveillance video and the information from the license plate readers, investigators confirmed that the Mercedes is registered in Washington to Dhillon, an Uber driver, who they say matched the description of the man seen in the videos collected from gas stations.

A possible motive for the killing has not been released.
