LINDON — A Lindon man has been arrested for allegedly shooting at another car during an apparent road rage confrontation.
Graham Alejandro Platner, 21, was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of attempted murder and shooting a gun in the direction of a vehicle.
On Monday, about 8:20 p.m., Utah Highway Patrol troopers responded to a call of a shooting on an off-ramp from I-15 in Utah County.
"En route to the address, I was advised by dispatch that the victim and suspect had separated — the victims were not shot but the victim's vehicle was shot," the arresting trooper wrote in a police booking affidavit.
After getting the license plate number of the alleged shooter's vehicle, troopers went to Platner's home in Lindon where they were met at the door by his mother.
"She stated that she was at home when Platner arrived home and stated he made a mistake. She further explained to me Platner stated that he was driving on the freeway when a vehicle cut him off. The occupants of the vehicle 'flipped him off' so Platner shot at them with his firearm," the affidavit states.
Platner allegedly admitted to shooting at the vehicle, which was occupied by a man and woman, once, striking the passenger side of the car. Troopers then placed him in custody and transported him to jail.
Utah's new road rage law, which enhances the penalties for people found to be guilty of engaging in an act of road rage, went into effect July 1.
