ALTA — A motorcyclist was killed Friday after he collided with a car in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Neil Munroe, 38, was riding his motorcycle westbound down the canyon at around 7:43 p.m. when he collided with an eastbound vehicle coming around a turn, the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office says. The crash happened near the Iron Blosam Hotel at Snowbird.

"Preliminary findings suggest that the motorcyclist lost control while navigating a turn, leading to the collision with oncoming traffic," the sheriff's office said.

Munroe died at the scene, and the driver of the other vehicle cooperated with law enforcement.

Officers closed a section of the roadway for several hours while they investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
