OGDEN — Cliff Hokanson, executive vice president at HHI Corporation, was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash over the weekend, the company announced Monday.
Hokanson, 53, of Kaysville, was seriously injured in an ATV crash in Spanish Fork Canyon on Saturday, the Utah County Sheriff's office said. A search and rescue team responded to Skyline Drive, off of U.S. 6 near Thistle, and found CPR was underway on Hokanson. He was flown to a hospital where he died.
The company, founded by Cliff Hokanson's father, Don Hokanson, does construction and manufacturing business and has completed projects at Hill Air Force Base, Dugway Proving Grounds, McConnell Air Force Base and other military sites, according to the company website.
"It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Cliff Hokanson," the company said in a Facebook post. "Cliff was involved in an ATV accident on Saturday, July 6, and despite the best efforts, he did not survive. Our hearts go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time."
Cliff Hokanson was a graduate of Utah State University and his wife, Regina Hokanson, jointly purchased the company from Don Hokanson in 2011, when the senior Hokanson retired.
"His legacy will forever be remembered through the values he instilled in us all and the relationships he cultivated within our team and with our clients and partners," the Facebook post states. "We are grateful for the trust and confidence he placed in us, and we will work tirelessly to uphold the standards of excellence he set for our company."
