CENTERVILLE — A woman died after she crashed into the barrier on I-15 in Davis County Thursday afternoon.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden said a woman sideswiped the right-hand barrier on southbound I-15 in Centerville near 1400 North. She then drifted across all lanes of traffic and hit the barrier on the left side before coming to a complete stop.

The woman was transported to a hospital but died shortly after arriving. Roden said police believe she may have experienced a medical episode while driving, but the crash is still being investigated.

Southbound lanes on I-15 were experiencing delays as crews cleaned up the crash.

A second crash involving seven cars occurred just behind the initial crash near Parrish Lane. UHP said occupants only received minor injuries, and the accident was most likely caused by the backup from the first crash.
