SALT LAKE CITY — A woman is in custody after a shooting on Friday night.

At approximately 6:40 p.m., a custodial dispute involving two young children occurred inside the Kids Empire indoor playground, according to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Cody Lougy.

The woman then used her own gun to allegedly shoot her ex-husband during the dispute, while multiple families were inside the Kids Empire. A good Samaritan then moved in to disarm the woman, at which point a responding Salt Lake City police officer arrived, Lougy said.

The woman was taken into police custody, while the man, believed by police to be the woman's ex-husband, was rushed by paramedics to the hospital in critical condition. Multiple witnesses were also taken in for questioning as part of the investigation, Lougy said.

The Kids Empire will remain closed while the investigation continues.
