SANDY —A 33-year-old man who died Monday night after being hit by a vehicle has been identified.

About 10 p.m., a vehicle that was heading east near 150 West and 9000 South hit the man, identified Tuesday afternoon as Robert Wentworth, who died at the scene, according to Sandy Police Sgt. Michael Olsen.

Wentworth died at the scene.

Olsen initially said there is no indication that speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash. He later said the cause of the crash was determined to be that Wentworth was in the crosswalk when he shouldn't have been, and the vehicle had a green light.

On Monday night, traffic heading east in the area was affected for several hours.
