PARK CITY — Prosecutors will continue to call witnesses on Wednesday to make their case for aggravated murder on the eighth day of Kouri Richins' trial.
Only one witness took the stand on Tuesday — a forensic accountant named Brooke Karrington, who reviewed thousands of documents and testified about the debt Kouri Richins and her realty business, K Richins Realty, were in.
On Tuesday, jurors were told that the trial would not be held on Friday.
In October 2021, five months before Eric Richins died from a fentanyl overdose, many transactions didn't clear and Kouri Richins' account was often negative. Karrington said this continued to worsen through March, when she purchased a large mansion, sending her even further into debt.
Kouri Richins, a Kamas mother and real estate agent, is accused of fatally poisoning her husband on March 4, 2022. She is also accused of slipping drugs into his food, making him sick, on Feb. 14, 2022.
