SOUTH SALT LAKE — Two men and one juvenile male were shot early Sunday.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in a residential area in South Salt Lake near 300 East and Penny Avenue. Police found three victims with gunshot wounds.
One man was in critical condition and the other victims were in stable condition, said South Salt Lake police spokesman Shaun Ward. He said all three were transported to hospitals.
Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted incident with no threat to the public, Ward said, and followed an altercation. He said multiple people were detained and interviewed at the scene, but they did not yet have any suspect information to give.
"This is very much still an active and open investigation," Ward said.
Initial reports said two of the victims were juveniles and one was an adult, but police later learned two of the men were adults.
Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting but has not talked to investigators is asked to call the police's nonemergency line.
