BERYL, Iron County — Officials are investigating unidentified human remains found on Sunday, according to the Iron County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the scene near 8600 West and 4800 North in Beryl, where the remains were discovered at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to a department press release.

The remains were determined to be human, but officials said the body was "unidentifiable due to exposure." Investigators believe the person was a man about 6 feet tall with long black-and-gray hair.

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office, which is still investigating. Deputies say the cause of death is still not clear.

"At this time, foul play is not suspected, and it is believed there is no risk to public safety," the press release states.
