1 dead, 5 injured after off-road vehicle rolls in Utah County

WEST MOUNTAIN, Utah County — A 14-year-old died and five other people were injured on Friday after an off-road vehicle crashed in Utah County.

The crash occurred around 7 p.m. Friday in West Mountain, an area west of Payson. The 14-year-old girl was flown to a hospital in Salt Lake County, according to the Utah Department of Natural Resources.

The girl was announced dead on Sunday, according to the department.

The driver of the off-road vehicle, a 14-year-old boy, was transported to a Utah County hospital and then taken to a Salt Lake County hospital with possibly significant injuries, the department said. Two other female passengers went to Utah County hospitals with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The final two passengers of the vehicle, a boy and a girl, sustained minor injuries and remained at the scene. The department said all of the vehicle's occupants are from Utah County.
