SALT LAKE CITY — One of those speaking at Monday's funeral of former Utah Congresswoman Mia Love was Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson. The two were close friends for 16 years, as evident in a never-before-seen video of Love.

Henderson told KSL that she and Love supported each other and tried to lift each other up. Shortly after Love's brain cancer diagnosis in 2022, Love recorded a video showing a personal side rarely seen by the public.

"It's just the hardest thing because the one thing that I need, is for this to be removed from me," said Love in a Marco Polo video.

The personal Marco Polo video is one of many from a group chat with Henderson.

"I've spent a lot of hours of the last couple of weeks looking at some of those, watching some of those Marco Polos," Henderson told KSL in an interview.

Henderson said the short recorded conversations are helping her get through the grief.

"Of all my memories of Mia, the dearest to me are those times during the past three years that we were there for each other in our toughest moments," Henderson said during the funeral service.

She says she's holding onto these memories and the final moment Henderson got to say goodbye, the day before Love died.

"I climbed into the recliner next to her and held her hand, and she was able to respond and squeeze my hand … it was really important for me to make sure Mia knew, and I know she did, but to tell her how much I loved her, how important she was to me, how grateful, how grateful I am for her friendship and her support," Henderson said.

When Henderson needed it, Love was there, and the same when Love needed it in return.

"I'm going to do everything I can to get this thing out of my head, get it out and live," Love said in a video. "And what I need from you all, more than anything, is to help me fight it. Help me fight it."

Conversations that are closest to Love are kept in their hearts, full of love for the former congresswoman.
