THE SLOPES — This 7-year-old is definitely the cutest snowboarder riding down the double black diamond no fall zone chute in her pink snowsuit and colorful tutu.
She sounds so confident as she listens to detailed instructions from her dad and conquers the slope one small move at a time.
When her dad asks if she feels comfortable, she says, "I do!"
"This is a huge mountain," the girl says — and it looks like one. I know some of the camera angles might make it look worse than it is, but it's definitely not a run I can imagine doing with my limited experience.
The young girl, Aubrin, gathered a following online a few years ago as "powdersaurus," when her dad placed a mic on her while she went down much easier routes.
This video, although it is cute, really showcases how her father supports and teaches her. In the video description, he said he was "proud of but not spriprised" to see how she safely and calmly navigated the area.
He said people were likely wondering why a girl in a tutu was in the black diamond terrain at Kicking Horse Mountain in Canada — and he said it wasn't the only double black diamond run they did that day.
The dad said runs like that are about safety, communication, trust, working through fear, and the power of emotional regulation.
He said moments like this bolster his daughter's mentality that she can do anything and step beyond what she thinks is possible with support.
