SALT LAKE CITY — It's another week and another chance to vote for your favorite — or what you believe is most iconic to Utah — in a fun March bracket sponsored by Deseret First Credit Union.
Looking back on last week's vote, there were a few interesting results.
Brigham Young may have said "this is the right place," but he probably wasn't planning on being outvoted by a condiment. But nobody is safe in this bracket. If funeral potatoes and dirty sodas can lose early, what's safe anymore?
Joking aside, the closest vote in the second round was Moab earning just 38 more votes than the Great Salt Lake. A close second was the aforementioned fry sauce beating out Brigham Young by 63 votes.
The most lopsided result was This is the Place Monument losing out to Arches National Park by 4,817 votes. Brigham Young really had himself a tough weekend on both accounts.
Round 3 — the final 16 icons of the state — features some interesting matchups, including two great pastimes, skiing and hiking, going up against two beautiful national parks, Zion and Arches.
There's also Lake Powell up against Mount Timpanogos and the Wasatch Mountains battling it out against the Bonneville Salt Flats. How about the Utah Jazz putting up a fight against the Mormon Pioneers? Can fry sauce get more support than Moab?
You've got some difficult choices to make this round.
