WASHINGTON, Washington County — The body of a deceased 47-year-old woman found by cleaners in a rental property in southern Utah on Sunday is being treated as a homicide investigation.
Police were called about 11:45 a.m. to the 1200 block of North Bello Aly.
"Cleaners at a vacation rental property had reported the possible presence of a deceased female inside the building. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered a female victim lying on the floor with apparent stab wounds," according to a statement from Washington police. "The victim, who had traveled to Washington city from California, was stabbed multiple times in the upper body."
Police said Monday that the woman, whose name has not been released, had been staying in the rental for three days prior to her body being found.
"Two persons of interest have been identified in connection with the case," police said. "These individuals fled the scene in the victim's rental vehicle, which has since been located and is undergoing processing by law enforcement in a neighboring state. Currently, the persons of interest remain at large. Their names will not be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation and potential leads from assisting agencies."
Police say they have notified the victim's family of the death. The Washington Police Department says it anticipates releasing more information Tuesday.
