CENTERVILLE — A man suffered serious injuries Tuesday and was taken my medical helicopter to a hospital after firefighters extricated him from a crashed semitruck in Centerville.
Around 12:30 p.m., a tire blew on a semitrailer heading north on Legacy Parkway just north of Parrish Lane, causing the driver to lose control, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cam Roden. The truck went off the road into an embankment where the trailer overturned.
The driver was pinned inside the crashed vehicle for several hours while emergency crews attempted to extricate him.
All northbound lanes of Legacy Parkway were closed, with traffic diverted to Parrish Lane. Roden said a second helicopter landed on the highway to bring in additional medical personal to "cut up the vehicle."
"Medical personnel ... they're right there with him," Roden said.
Just before 4:30 p.m., the man was pulled out of the vehicle and flown to the hospital in "serious to critical condition," Roden said.
