MURRAY — A Murray man was charged Tuesday with stabbing his brother, causing critical injuries.
John Paul Nettleton, 60, is charged in 3rd District Court with aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, a second-degree felony.
On Jan. 23, Nettleton got into an argument with his adult brother and "during the argument he was holding a knife as he had previously been using it to open a container," according to charging documents.
After being pushed by the brother, Nettleton followed him into another room while still holding the knife.
"The argument turned physical, during which Nettleton stated that he stabbed (his brother) on the side of his torso with the knife," the charges state.
The brother then drove himself to a local hospital, but lost consciousness shortly after arriving and was rushed into surgery.
"At the time the investigation was completed the victim remained in a medically induced coma and was intubated. He was observed with a stab wound on his side and a large surgical incision on his stomach," according to the charges.
Prosecutors have requested that Nettleton remain in custody without the possibility of posting bail pending trial.
