SALT LAKE CITY — The waiting is finally over.
After spending the entire 2023-24 season ranked inside the Associated Press Top 25 and holding a high NET rating, Utah had some work to do a year removed from a second-round exit in the NCAA Tournament to Gonzaga.
But after a neutral site win over then-No. 3 Notre Dame on Nov. 30 and a 3-0 start to Big 12 play, including Utah's most recent win on the road over Iowa State, the Utes returned to the national rankings.
On Monday, Utah jumped up to No. 22 in the latest AP poll, while also coming in at No. 25 in Sunday's NET ratings.
The Utes hold a 12-2 record this season and are ranked sixth in the country in 3-point shooting percentage (38.8%), 11th in field goal percentage (48.5%) and 21st in assists (273).
Utah is one of four teams from the Big 12 ranked this week, with No. 11 TCU leading the conference with a 15-1 record. Behind the Horned Frogs is No. 12 Kansas State (15-1) and No. 17 West Virginia (12-2). Oklahoma State is receiving votes.
The Utes welcome Kansas State to the Huntsman Center on Wednesday (7 p.m. MST, ESPN+) before a matinee game on Saturday (1:30 p.m. MST, ESPN+) against Houston.
Undefeated UCLA (15-0) leads the rankings as the unanimous No. 1 pick with 30 first-place votes. Reigning national champions South Carolina are No. 2, followed by No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 4 USC and No. 5 Texas.
