CEDAR CITY — A 31-year-old man was arrested in Cedar City last week after police say he raped a 14-year-old girl while inside a motor home at a shopping center parking lot.

Luis A. Lopez was booked into Iron County Jail Thursday evening. According to a police booking affidavit filed in support of his arrest, Lopez was arrested for investigation of rape, object rape and forcible sodomy, in addition to possession of a controlled substance, furnishing alcohol to a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to the affidavit, the 14-year-old girl, who had run away from a group home in Iron County, had met Lopez inside a large retail store in Cedar City and had asked him to use his phone. He then reportedly invited her to stay with him in his motor home in the parking lot, the affidavit states.

"While she was there with him she reported being provided an alcoholic beverage, a tan waxy substance consistent with THC wax, and a vape suspected to contain nicotine," the affidavit states.
