SANTAQUIN — A Goshen woman was safely arrested on Wednesday after allegedly challenging a police officer with a knife.

Lonni Bullock, 48, was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of assault on a police officer using a weapon, carrying a weapon while under the influence, disorderly conduct, failing to stop at the command of police and interfering with an officer.

On Wednesday, a Santaquin police officer was driving on U.S. 6 in Genola when he spotted Bullock on the right shoulder waving her arms up and down. The officer stopped and tried asking the woman what was going on.

"(She) did not respond to me and appeared agitated and continued to throw her arms around," a police booking affidavit states.

The woman started walking away from the officer who followed her and turned on his emergency lights to get her to stop.

"At this time, I observed the female had a knife in each hand, she was holding the handle of the knives with the blade facing forward. The female once again appeared agitated and continued to raise her arms (knives) towards passing traffic," the officer wrote in the affidavit.

The officer used his patrol car to block oncoming traffic, exited his vehicle and drew his gun as Bullock "continued to advance towards me. I pointed my department-issued handgun at her and commanded her to drop the knives. She refused and continued to walk around my patrol vehicle," he affidavit says.

The officer holstered his gun and pulled out his less-lethal pepper ball gun.

"I deployed my pepper gun, striking the female in the face area. The female turned and threw one of the knives in the opposite direction of me," the affidavit states. "She turned towards me and threw the other knife at me. I had to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit with the knife."

At that point, the officer tackled the woman and handcuffed her. While being treated at a local hospital, Bullock "was yelling at officers and she told me she wanted me to shoot her. She said, 'Don't you get it? That's what I wanted, you to shoot me,'" the affidavit alleges. "Lonni appears to be under the influence and is not in the right state of mind.

"Lonni made statements to me regarding a suicide-by-cop, she stated she wanted me to shoot her and kill her that was her intention," according to the affidavit.
