LEWISTON, Cache County — One person was killed and three were injured in a head-on collision just south of the Utah-Idaho border near Lewiston, Cache County, on Sunday afternoon, according to state troopers.

The crash occurred about 1:41 p.m. on Sunday less than two miles south of the Idaho border on U.S. 91, the Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release. Troopers said a GMC Terrain hydroplaned while traveling south on the highway and hit a northbound Mazda 3.

The driver and only occupant of the Mazda was killed, troopers said, and all three occupants of the GMC were taken to the hospital with "significant injuries." The driver and front passenger of the GMC were transported via ambulance, while the rear passenger was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter.

Troopers have not yet released the identity of the driver who was killed.
