Thanksgiving, the holiday, may be over, but the Thanksgiving spirit is alive and well still.
While it is true that Thanksgiving is about food, family and maybe football, it is always good to be reminded there is a little bit more to the holiday.
We all have had times when we need something — money, a bike, a car, something — and then out of nowhere comes someone who gives you something that helps you. OK, maybe not a car — but a bunch of free Uber rides, instead.
Well, a mom, with a son in the intensive care unit due to a heart condition, was not sure how she was going to take care of Christmas this year. She did not ask for anything. She was just suffering silently until someone asked her about the holidays.
She ends up getting a surprise that could help her out ... which leads to an even bigger surprise.
Take a look:
Can you believe this?! Raise your hand if you cried or had to stop yourself from crying.
So, the young man goes by the name Jimmy Darts and this is his thing: surprising people in need with something that could make their day better. His entire YouTube page is filled with stories like Chelsea's, where Jimmy goes up to someone and gets them food, money, gas, whatever they could use, but as a surprise.
He pays for everything out of his own pocket and films each encounter to spread the idea to other people.
As you would expect, there is a lot of crying in most of the videos on his page, but you leave the video remembering the good in people.
Jimmy is spreading the Thanksgiving spirit, whether he knew it or planned for it or not. He sees a person in need and helps however he can. Is he perfect? No. But no one is. He is just going out there and doing something to brighten someone's day.
That's what it's all about.
