SOUTH WILLARD, Box Elder County — A woman was killed and a man was critically injured after being struck on I-15 in poor weather conditions, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The two were driving a Prius south on I-15 at around 10 p.m. Tuesday, when the car hit a concrete barrier on the left shoulder, coming to rest facing sideways outside of South Willard, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The initial crash was "likely due to weather and roadway conditions."

The man, who was driving, got out of the car while the woman opened her door but stayed inside, UHP said, when a Ford Expedition hit the man and the Prius head-on. It hit the car on the front passenger side, where the woman was sitting, killing her on impact and critically injuring the man.

The occupants of the Expedition were not injured in the crash, UHP says. The woman's identity has not yet been released.
