HERRIMAN — In a hard-fought battle between two elite squads, the undefeated Lone Peak Knights secured their second consecutive 6A girls soccer state championship with a thrilling 2-0 victory over the Davis Darts on Friday at Zions Bank Stadium.
Both teams came into the final clash with momentum, but it was the Knights who found the edge they needed to extend their perfect season and defend their crown.
The energy at the stadium was high as the No. 1-ranked Knights faced off against the No. 3-ranked Darts, who was fresh off a 5-0 shutout against Mountain Ridge. Davis brought a resilient defense that held Lone Peak scoreless through the first half.
Lone Peak, who returned to the championship game after a 3-0 win over Syracuse, matched Davis's intensity as both teams' defensive lines and goalkeepers proved tough to break down.
Both goalkeepers — Lone Peak's Eliza Collings and Davis's Lexi Lund — delivered remarkable performances.
Collings, in particular, stood out by securing her 15th shutout of the season and her 41st career shutout — an impressive feat for the junior standout.
"It feels amazing," Collings said. "There was no doubt in us that we could do it again, but we just had to fight."
The game remained scoreless at halftime, with the Knights and Darts trading possession and shots, but neither were able to capitalize. As the teams regrouped, the message from Lone Peak's players was clear: They were there to finish what they started.
"At halftime, we were just thinking this is what we came here to do, and we are going to do it again," said senior forward Brooke Hendricks. "All this work that we've put in is for each other."
Early in the second half, Lone Peak's offense finally broke through. Six minutes after the break, Hendricks broke past two Davis defenders, finding herself in a one-on-one showdown with Lund. With a powerful strike, she buried the ball in the back of the net, giving Lone Peak a 1-0 lead to ignite the crowd.
"The end of the first half we were kind of getting a little tired," Hendricks said. "I think it just helped us pick up and finish what we started."
The Knights continued to press as the second half progressed, with forwards Ivy Harding, Sam Sellars, and Hendricks leading a fluid attack.
Despite the Davis defense's relentless efforts, Lone Peak kept finding ways to create dangerous chances. Collings also proved key in the goal, making crucial saves to keep the Darts off the scoreboard.
"The whole time, I was thinking about our seniors that are graduating this year and telling myself that I gotta do it for them," Collings said.
As the final seconds ticked away, Kate Fuller sealed the victory with a last-second goal, pushing the Knights to a 2-0 lead to officially secure the championship.
"Our environment is awesome with all of our team," Hendricks said. "We are all sisters, and we do it for each other."

The win crowned a perfect season for Lone Peak, who has been ranked No. 1 in the RPI for three consecutive years.
As the Knights players hoisted the trophy once more, the team celebrated not only a season of excellence but the legacy of a program that continues to shine as one of Utah's best in high school girls soccer.
