OGDEN — One person was killed in a crash in Ogden Canyon on Wednesday.

Just before 2 p.m., a Hyundai Elantra was traveling east on state Route 39 in Ogden Canyon when the driver attempted to pass a pickup truck in a no-passing zone, Utah Highway Patrol said.

While passing the truck, the Elantra driver tried to go back into the eastbound lane but sideswiped the pickup then hit a westbound Mazda head-on, according to UHP.

The Hyundai driver, Quincie Holman, 20, of Salt Lake City, was taken to the hospital but died after arriving.

The canyon road was shut down for several hours as crews responded to the crash.
