COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A firefighter was taken to the hospital after working a house fire on Thursday.

The Unified Fire Authority received the initial call just before 1:30 p.m. and responded within minutes to find two people inside the duplex. Crews were able to get one of the people out, but neither the condition of that person nor the status of the other occupant was immediately available.

In addition to the Unified firefighter who was taken to the hospital, five officers with the Unified Police Department were treated for injuries at the scene, a spokesman with the Unified Fire Authority said. Details of how they were injured were not immediately available.

Unified Fire Authority is currently investigating the fire alongside Unified police.
