SARATOGA SPRINGS — A man is injured and in custody after being involved in a police shooting in Saratoga Springs Thursday afternoon.

Officers attempted a traffic stop on a black Mercedes south of Harvest Hills Boulevard about 3:15 p.m. Saratoga Springs Police Chief Andy Burton said the suspect was being uncooperative and giving false information to police.

Officers learned the man had previously been involved in serious crimes and was considered armed and dangerous, Burton said.

Two officers tried to get the man to exit the car, and during that, shots were fired. Police did not specify who fired the shots.

Police said the man fled and ran into a neighborhood. Police apprehended the man and took him into custody. The man was taken to a hospital for an unspecified injury, police said.

Due to road closures in the area, there are major traffic delays, police said on social media.
