COLORADO — There's a house near my neighborhood with a large elk decoy in the front yard. Every time we pass it, my kids inevitably yell, "Look at that huge elk!"
I've told them hundreds of times the elk isn't real, but they always forget and then, spontaneously, freak out when they see it. It's reached a point where I just assume, that anytime my kids say there's an elk nearby, they're mistaken.
It's like the boy who cried elk, I guess.
So, if I were driving down the street and encountered the elk in this video, I probably wouldn't even react until the big bull rammed into me.
This incident occurred in Evergreen, Colorado, which is an elk hotspot, especially during the rut. Even if you're a local, you are probably not accustomed to bulls coming at your SUV. It's hard to say who won this particular battle, but the fact the elk stood its ground while the vehicle drove away suggests the bull was victorious.
