ROY — Leading 27-20 with just 12 minutes to go in a game against one of their biggest rivals, Roy was looking for anything to give them a two-possession lead to secure the win.

Instead of going with their starting quarterback to throw a touchdown pass, Roy turned to running back Robert Young, who is also a wide receiver and safety. A 15-yard completion later by Young, and the Royals had a commanding two-possession lead, which was just enough to power Roy over Weber.

"I'm a QB at heart, to be honest, so I can throw the ball a little," Young said smiling after the game.

Young came up big against Weber, totaling five touchdowns in the game, including four rushing touchdowns. He finished with 17 carries for 176 yards, four catches for 90 yards, and had four tackles in a 48-34 win over the Warriors.

"It feels good to have a player like Rob," head coach Roy Solomona said. "I tell everyone that his football IQ, knowledge for the game, and awareness on both sides helps both coordinators put him in position. We are just starting to see Rob's full potential."

Young has had an excellent career for the Royals, totaling over 2,200 yards and 27 offensive touchdowns in a little over two seasons of play. Oh, and he also has three successful PATs this year, as well.

"I am kind of used to it," Young said. "Throughout my childhood playing football, I was placed all over the field to see where I did best. I would like to stay at receiver; it is a lot more interesting."

Though a football player with a diverse skill set, Young said there is more to him than football when he is off the gridiron.

"Outside of football, I am just a chill kid," he said. "I snowboard and bowl sometimes when it is in the winter. I am just enjoying life."

Young currently holds no collegiate offers but is hoping to play football at the next level. Solomona called out all college teams, urging them to come take a look at Young.

"He's fun, he is an X-factor, you just see a different player in person," Solomona said. "Anyone who is looking for talent like Rob, come check him out. He is a game changer."

"Come watch the show," Young added. "I could always pull out something impossible."

Young and the Royals are off to a strong start to the season, sitting at a comfortable 3-0 and ranked No. 8 in the KSL.com Top 20+1 rankings. The Royals will face Clearfield, who just won their first game in three years, on Friday night to start Region 5 play.
