SPANISH FORK — Police have a 30-year-old man in custody after he allegedly stabbed his father after an argument Saturday, leaving the father in critical condition.

The incident took place Saturday in the area of 1700 E. Canyon Road in Spanish Fork at about 3:18 p.m.

During an argument, the father reportedly hit his son with a broom, and the son allegedly retaliated by stabbing his father multiple times in the face and back, police said.

The father was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.

The 30-year-old man fled after the stabbing but was taken into custody by Utah Highway Patrol troopers on I-15 in Millard Country, Spanish Fork police said Saturday night.
