SALT LAKE CITY — Two women were seriously injured after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Salt Lake City Thursday.

Salt Lake City police detective Dalton Beebe said officers determined the driver failed to yield to the pedestrians and hit them in the crosswalk at 300 E. South Temple at about 7 p.m. He said officers gave the driver of the vehicle a citation.

Both women were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Beebe said hospital staff reported one of the women was in critical condition overnight but was stable.

Beebe said police do not believe weather was a factor in the crash.
