MOUNTAIN GREEN, Morgan County — Fire destroyed a two-story single family house in Mountain Green early Saturday, but no injuries occurred to homeowners or fire personnel.

The owners of the house were out of town when the fire began and had their dogs with them, but a cat remains unaccounted for, fire officials said.

The fire on Roundup Court was reported about 6 a.m., actively burning for about three hours, Mountain Green Deputy Fire Chief Brian Brendel said. Four agencies helped bring the fire under control.

The fire remained contained to the house, causing it to collapse. Windows of an adjacent building were cracked due to the heat, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimate was provided.
