VERNAL — A fugitive from Colorado with a $500,000 arrest warrant was apprehended in Vernal on Friday, authorities say.
Stanley Lucero, 21, was wanted in connection with a homicide in Grand Junction, Colorado, Uintah County Sheriff's Office said.
Members from the Utah and Colorado Violent Fugitive Apprehension Team, along with Naples and Vernal City police, and the Uintah County Sheriff's Office responded to a tip that Lucero was in the Vernal area, Uintah County Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities were able to track Lucero's location and apprehend him without incident in a parking lot along East Highway 40 in Vernal.
Lucero is being held in the Uintah County Jail pending extradition back to Colorado, Uintah County Sheriff's Office said.
