BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder County Sheriff Kevin Potter was involved in a motor-vehicle "incident" Tuesday in Weber County and is on administrative leave, the northern Utah agency said.

Additional details of what happened, though, were not disclosed.

"Sheriff Potter remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators," Box Elder County said in a statement. "In accordance with county standard procedures, Sheriff Potter is taking voluntary administrative leave while the incident is under investigation."

The statement said the Ogden Police Department and the Weber Metro CRASH team are leading an investigation into the incident.

"Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident," the county said.
