SANDY — World Cup fever is alive and well in Utah.
As the United States squared off against Bosnia in California, thousands of passionate soccer fans gathered outside America First Field in Sandy for a massive watch party.
The atmosphere was electric throughout the match. Every U.S. goal sparked deafening cheers from the crowd.
About 11,000 fans packed the plaza area, many dressed in red, white and blue while proudly supporting the U.S. squad.
One enthusiastic fan summed up the excitement with a simple chant: "USA, baby, let's go!"
But it wasn't just American supporters in attendance. Bosnia fans also showed up, proudly backing their home country and bringing their own energy to the celebration.
"I'm rooting for Bosnia," one fan said. "It's my home country. I was born in Bosnia."
Despite supporting opposite sides, fans shared a common love for the game. The watch party became a celebration of soccer, with supporters from both nations enjoying the experience together.
"It's so fun," said Lauren Hitchcock, a U.S. supporter. "I grew up playing soccer, and seeing Utah — especially Utah — show up for this is so cool."
"Oh my gosh, this is amazing," added U.S. fan Bris Long. "I love the crowd. I love the USA team."
Bosnia fan Matea Mihaljevic said she was proud of her team's performance.
"Bosnia has been surprising me. They've gone this far and I'm happy for them. At the end of the day, we've already won," she said.
When the final whistle blew, U.S. supporters celebrated the victory, while Bosnia fans took pride in how far their team had advanced, with fans from both sides leaving happy.
