TOOELE — A man is dead after a crash Thursday on state Route 36, Utah Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred just north of Tooele around 8:30 p.m. Thursday when a Ford Expedition traveling northbound veered off the road, back onto it, nearly striking an ambulance and then off a second time and rolled multiple times.

The driver, identified Friday as 69-year-old Dave T. Wolf of Riverton, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The passenger was also ejected, but only received minor injuries, law enforcement said.

Neither was wearing a seatbelt.

Additionally, law enforcement said alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash.
