SARATOGA SPRINGS — A 13-year-old boy has died from critical injuries sustained in a crash at the intersection of Pony Express Parkway and the Mountain View Corridor in Saratoga Springs on Thursday. A woman and another child were also hospitalized with injuries resulting from the collision.

Saratoga Springs spokesperson AnnEllise Harrison said just before 6 p.m., a semi tractor-trailer heading east on Pony Express Parkway and a minivan heading north on Mountain View Corridor collided.

A woman driving the minivan was flown to a hospital in critical condition, but was said to be recovering. Two children were also in that vehicle — the boy was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, but later died. A girl, around 10, was also hospitalized with less severe injuries, according to Harrison.

The incident prompted temporary traffic impacts in the area, but all directions of travel at the intersection reopened by 10 p.m.

Two other children were also in the minivan, a toddler and an 8-year-old, who were not injured and picked up by a relative.

The condition of the truck driver was not immediately made available.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
